Always looking forward...

My journey as a glass and silver artist has been amazing and I feel like I've only scratched the surface of what's possible. There are times that I feel very creative and inspired to take on huge new projects or even beat my own path with something fresh and new- then there are the times that I like to kick back on something a little less complicated and really just enjoy the lessons that I've picked up along the way. I think I'm in that time though I can feel myself getting close to the edge of the "learning" cliff.. But for now I have decided to go off in a totally different direction for me. No birds, no owls.. just simple pendants that are still challenging me and that I love making.

This was the first of this series and there have been many to follow. There is this picture in my head of where I am trying to go with these and I wont stop chasing that down... I'm new to this style of lampwork bead.. though I have made a few of the single holed beads in the past, I've never really created a series of them. I enjoy watching these evolve.

I'm chomping at the bit to get after these again. My last run was a nice line of ivory and silvered glass.. classic favorite and oh so pretty.

And what I love about these is how simple it is to bail them up and wear them. I've had a lot of people ask me how to bail up beads that have just one single hole running through the center and that's been a good learning experience for me too. It seems like each time I teach how to do one of these, the more I learn.

I've also taken to making hearts this way. I've had a few successes with this.

This ended up being a fun project for a new customer- I bailed it up and sent it home.
I am into silver plum and metallic black in ways I can't explain. I have to stop myself from making EVERYTHING out of those two glasses.. lol

And then this is a piece from my new Industrial Line.

I have a few pieces I still need to get listed that I just got done this weekend. If you're interested in any of these pieces just click and it should take you to the page where you can buy/get more info.

My next adventure will be with glass painting and combining that with lampworking. I can't wait!! :)

  1. Payton - your beads never fail to impress, astound & move me, & your new beads are no exception. I'm not sure how to describe them or how I feel about them, apart from saying that they have an 'edge' & call to me in ways that you can't imagine.

  2. Deb, thank you so much for the kind and encouraging words! It means a lot to me!

I see the edge you're talking about and I think that as I learn how to be an authentic arist, I hear that inner voice a lot louder. My secret self that hides inside is learning how to have confidence and show it's self more. It's such an amazing thing to be an artist don't you agree!? Who else gets to uncover hidden truths and create little pieces of themselves and in the process by doing so gets to grow as a human being? I feel blessed each day that
this is what I was meant to do ;)
