Turning over a new leaf...

So there's been a lot of changes in my life as of late. The first and biggest one I can think of would be my studio overhaul. See the pictures of how things are progressing so far! Studio Overhaul.

It was funny, I woke up one day and couldn't stand that I didn't want to be or like to be in my studio anymore. I needed an "artists space" and it needed to be more like me- So I set out on the first part of the journey by painting the walls a really nice cornsilk yellow. That wasn't quite enough for me so I had to throw in a spiced pumpkin accent wall to boot. Ah... Now I felt like I was getting somewhere.

The total intended space is meant for work and relaxation. I wanted this to be "my" space whether I was working or playing so I set up a futon mattress covered in a nice rich chocolate fabric and lots of pillows. I'm still working on getting just the right pillows but it's coming along nicely.

Next, I needed some new curtains. I found these fabulous purple striped with jute curtains at World Market (and all the pillows I need/want PERFECT for the studio if I had an endless allowance lol) for 9.99 a panel so I grabbed two! Great price!! They look simply stunning showcased on my pumpkin wall. Wow.

I am shooting for, overall, a Moroccan theme. I was very drawn to the energy of the bright blues, reds, purples, yellows and any other extreme color you can think of in the Moroccan styled design. I ended up picking up three adorable Moroccan tea light holders in tea, purple and red. Ah, perfect!

I have a few more things that I want to get like a nice Moroccan lamp that will hang just above my head as I chill on my wonderful "down time" space futon.. and I'd like to get a bead curtain and some gorgeous fabric to put down on my jewelry table as well. All in good time. I really love the space now and it's kinda hard to pull me out of my sanctuary now, which I might add was the whole purpose to the overhaul in the first place.

Not only do I love it in here but I really feel like it's enhanced my creativity and that seems to be showing up in my work as of late.

So moral of the story is.. if your creative space isn't creative like you, change it!! How can you get inspired if you don't like the place you go to get inspired in? :)

Hop on over to my artfire shop this weekend.. you'll be glad you did. Crazy cheap prices with my delicious little 20% off sale this weekend.
